Paige's Journey to Standing Taller
At just 13 years old, Paige has already shown incredible strength and resilience.
Born with pseudoachondroplasia, Paige was first diagnosed with scoliosis around the age of 7. She initially wore a brace in hopes of slowing the progression of her spinal curve, but over the years, her scoliosis continued to worsen.
Paige first met Dr. Huser while he was practicing in St. Louis, where he performed surgery on her legs. During that time, Paige's mom noticed her scoliosis was progressing and asked Dr. Huser to help coordinate her care with Dr. Feldman.
In late October, Paige and her mom traveled from Evansville, Indiana, to Florida for her evaluation. On November 3, Paige underwent a T2–L3 spinal fusion.
Her recovery has been nothing short of remarkable.
By December 1, just four weeks after surgery, Paige was back to school full time and cheering alongside her team. Even more importantly, the back discomfort she had lived with is now gone. She can walk longer distances, has more endurance for the activities she loves, and says she feels so good that she sometimes forgets she ever had back problems or even major back surgery.
