Remi

Hip Dysplasia (Child)

Remi was born at 31 weeks along with her identical twin sister, Lennox. They always did things a few months behind so when she started walking at 20 months we weren’t concerned until we noticed she limped. At first we thought she may have a limb length discrepancy. I took Remi to her pediatrician to point out my concerns and he agreed it looked like that as well. I made an appointment with two doctors at two different well known pediatric hospitals and they both confirmed she had severe hip dysplasia. The surgery styles between both doctors varied slightly but I couldn’t help but feel these doctors were not who I wanted to care for my daughter.

That’s when I found the Paley Institute and Dr. Feldman. From booking the appointment and our arrival on the first day everything is like a well oiled machine. I have never experienced a doctor's office’s staff like those who work with Dr. Feldman and His team. Upon meeting doctor Feldman my husband and I felt at ease, he is so knowledgeable and let us ask all the questions we had. We decided to move forward and within the next day we had our appointment for her surgery.

Kaile Jo was in constant communication with us throughout the whole journey and was with Remi on surgery day texting us updates. Dr. Feldman PA’s have been so personable and informative throughout the journey as well. Remi underwent open reduction surgery with a femoral osteotomy to treat her severe hip dysplasia a month before her 2nd birthday. Surgery was a success and everything looked good. Her cast was removed 5 weeks later. Then we had a setback, she was starting to crawl and climb and slipped off the couch and fractured her femur on the same side that she had surgery on. Once again, Dr. Feldman and his staff got us in quickly and took care of Remi.

She is now healed and has begun walking again. We will continue to be monitored by Dr. Feldman as she grows up and I am so thankful for that!

Thank you for everything Dr. Feldman!
